I listen to music so much that I count it as a hobby, and when I say I listen to all types of genres, I mean it. So when I found out about Cuban Son Music, I had to give it a listen.

Cuban Son is a combination of African and Spanish music that came out of Cuba in the late 19th. The music contains the percussion instruments, like drums, that came from enslaved Africans, and string instruments and melodies that came from the Spanish colonizers. In the early 20th century Cuban Son music began becoming popular in the nightlife and social scene of Cuba.
I found a playlist on Spotify that contained many Cuban Son songs and so far my favorite song is "Asi Son Bonco" by Joseito Frenadez & Aragon. The link to the playslist and the song are included, let me know what your favorite is!

Hi Shadai,
I thought the story of the genre of Son music was interesting as well. I dont have Spotify but I did take a couple of those titles and listen to them on youtube. I could hear the drums and string instruments and I could see why they were popular in the club scene. I think I really liked the song Hermosa Habana by Los Zafiros. It had a jazzy tune to it and a sultry sound that seemed to remind me of the US Harlem era. I am not that old, but I do like the jazz music from that era. Thanks for the playlist. I plan to listen to more songs to identify with our heritage.
